double weave, stuffed-channel trivet / hot pad

Weird! Colorful! Tightly woven, squeezable, flexible (am I talking about myself or the trivets?). Pretty on the counter as a trivet, it stands ready to fun-up even a boring pot of hard boiled eggs. Or can keep your hand cool from the hottest of casseroles. The weaving process: two warps are stacked on top of one another on the loom, and woven in tandem, which forms pockets and allows for stuffing to fill the pockets. In this case it’s lengths of cotton rope. Slow and laborious, but the reward is those tightly stuffed channels, and a reversible object of function/art.

Care instructions: Machine wash, hand wash, machine dry, air dry, your choice. But if you air dry it, it’s going to take some time to fully dry.
